1The ghost seller at a knock-down price
You find the listing on a marketplace or a classified ads site. The price is well below market, availability is immediate. The seller replies fast, is friendly, and knows the subject. He asks for a deposit or the full amount before any delivery, by bank transfer. The transfer leaves. The seller stops replying.
The Australian public body WA ScamNet describes exactly this path: victims who responded to listings for containers on online classified sites, and were asked to pay by bank transfer.
Documented ground: Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree for containers specifically, in the United Kingdom as in Australia; Leboncoin in France, according to industry sources. We have no source documenting this set-up on Marktplaats, Milanuncios, Subito or Kleinanzeigen for this precise product: so we will not claim it.
How containereu.com works
This page exists because we see quote requests from buyers who have already been approached elsewhere. Here, without emphasis, is what our model changes and what it does not.
No payment passes through us.
containereu.com is a comparison service: you describe your need, we pass your request to companies in the sector, they contact you. We do not sell containers, we take no deposit, and we will never ask you for a bank transfer. If a message presents itself as coming from containereu.com and asks you for a payment, it does not come from us.
No company registers itself.
An account created on containereu.com is not active. It stays pending until we examine it and activate it manually. Until it is activated, it receives no requests. That is a human filter, not an automatic form.
You know who you are talking to.
Your details are passed only to a limited number of companies matching your country and the type of container requested — not broadcast to a mailing list.
What that does not guarantee, and we would rather write it.
Going through us replaces none of the checks described above. We guarantee neither the price, nor the lead time, nor the condition of the container you will be offered, and we are not a party to the sale contract. Before paying anything to a company, run the eight checks: ask for the depot, check the registration, read your bank's screen.
